Arizona Governor Charges Up Solar Trade Show

A virtual “Who’s Who” of the solar energy industry will converge on Arizona next week for one of the biggest solar events of the year. Top officials from the largest solar manufacturers in the world will join Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano and other leading state and federal lawmakers to examine the business and public policy aspects of the booming solar energy industry. The UPEx solar energy trade show and conference will run Oct. 7-10 at the Marriott Mountain Shadows Resort in sunny Scottsdale, Arizona.

Washington, D.C. – September 30, 2003 [SolarAccess.com] “Given the blackouts that have swept the nation and the natural gas shortage that is costing America jobs and economic growth, it is no wonder more and more people are turning to solar energy,” said Glenn Hamer, Executive Director of the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), one of the conference sponsors. “Whether you are a home builder looking to incorporate solar technologies into your work, a government official seeing solar as a way to bring new jobs to constituents, or a businessperson looking to profit from this fast-growing technology, this conference is for you.” In addition to the Arizona Governor, speakers will include Steve Westwell, the new President and CEO of BP Solar; Doug Allday, President of Kyocera Solar; Chet Farris, President of Shell Solar; Dan Shugar, President of PowerLight Corp.; Chris O’Brien, Vice President of Sharp Solar; Steve Hogan, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Spire Solar; Ed Fox, Vice President for Communications, Environment, and Safety, Pinnacle West; and Congressman J.D. Hayworth of Arizona, a member of the House Ways & Means Committee. “With a major federal energy bill close to passage, and the solar industry’s top players all together in Scottsdale, this conference should set the stage for solar’s continued growth in the years ahead,” Hamer said. UPEx is being hosted by Salt River Project, and organized by the Solar Electric Power Association (SEPA). For further information, including online registration, visit SEPA’s website listed below.
