ARISE to Build PV Cell Facility and Distribute BIPV

ARISE Technologies Corporation selected DHV B.V., based in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, to build an 80-megawatt (MW) photovoltaic cell production facility in Bischofswerda, Germany.

While the contract is conditional upon gaining the needed incentive grants for the facility, ARISE is funding research and development of a high-efficiency hetero-junction photovoltaic (PV) cell — in conjunction with the University of Toronto Center for Materials and Manufacturing, and the Emerging Materials Knowledge Network. The company believes that its proprietary production process could achieve PV cells with an efficiency of greater than 18%. In a second announcement, an agreement between ARISE Technologies Corporation and Japan-based MSK will enable distribution in Canada of MSK’s Just Roof BIPV (building integrated photovoltaic) system. Ontario benefits from its new Solar Electricity Standard Offer Program (SOP), which will pay $0.42 per kilowatt-hour for solar-generated electricity over 20 years.
