Apricus Opens New Solar Thermal Facility

Apricus has announced the opening of its new production facility, an 80,000 square foot factory situated on 5.7 acres of land in Nanjing, China. This new facility will increase the company’s production to more 43 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of capacity per year.

A typical solar thermal installation can cost around $6000 for a family of four, and has mean savings of $500-600 on energy bills every year. An Apricus system can deliver an initial 8-10 percent return without considering the rising cost of fossil fuels, according to the company.

“With this increased capacity for production, we expect a 2 to 3 fold increase in sales in 2008. This new facility will also help lower our cost of production, so that we can deliver our environmentally conscious solar collectors to consumers at an even more affordable rate,” said Michael Humphreys, president of Apricus.
