Amphenol solar junction box stands up to temp cycling

Amphenol Industrial, solar interconnect systems maker, released the Hercules junction box with Environmental Protection Rating to IP67.

June 20, 2011 — Amphenol Industrial, solar interconnect systems maker, released the Hercules junction box with Environmental Protection Rating to IP67.

The UL/TUV-approved junction box features a standardized exterior box geometry for automated assembly, attached via rear alignment with tape/tabs to rigid silicon photovoltaics (PV) panels. Amphenol says the box suffers low breakage rates during robotic assembly.

Hercules features a sealed design with improved heat dissipation for better temperature cycling than its predecessor. A spring clamp termination uses leads to clamp to the junction box interior. Alternatively, installers can terminate leads with solder. Hercules junction boxes can be potted for further moisture protection.

Hercules junction box diodes can be matched to any solar PV panel’s specifications for optimal electrical protection. Amphenol offers various diodes in multiple current ratings.

Specs:

  • 117 x 107 x 22mm,
  • -40 to +85°C,
  • 20A current rating,
  • 1000VDC (TUV and 600VDC (UL) rated voltage.

Hercules can be used in conjunction with Amphenol’s H4 self-locking connectors, which meet NEC2008 standards.

Amphenol Industrial Operations provides a range of high-reliability connectors and interconnection systems for industrial markets. Amphenol Industrial Operations is a division of Amphenol Corporation. For more information, visit http://www.amphenol-industrial.com
