140 MW Thin Film Modules Delivered to Germany

Hamburg, Germany [RenewableEnergyAccess.com] Reinecke + Pohl Sun Energy AG (RPSE) and First Solar confirmed the delivery volumes of the master supply agreement signed in April of this year: From 2007 until 2012 RPSE will purchase 140 megawatts of thin film modules from First Solar. This corresponds to a prospective turnover of more than 500 Mio EUR for RPSE. The delivery volumes have now been finalized after government approval of the new First Solar factory in Frankfurt/Oder, Germany, in July. Showing a relatively high degree of efficiency also at rather diffuse solar radiation conditions, modules of the high-yield thin film technology are particularly suited for larger solar plants. First Solar manufactures solar modules with an advanced thin-film semiconductor process that significantly lowers solar electricity costs.
