Wood Group performs $2 million in maintenance on Jamaica power plant

Wood Group GTS has completed the major maintenance service and gas turbine optimization of Jamaica Public Service Co.’s (JPS) Bogue Power Plant, located in Montego Bay Jamaica.

JPS is the sole distributor of electricity in Jamaica with a customer base of nearly 580,000. The generation capacity exceeds 620 MW, using steam (oil-fired), gas turbines, combined cycle, diesel and hydroelectric technologies. The company operates 27 generating units including eight hydro stations and one wind farm, and 54 substations.

Wood Group GTS executed a hot gas path inspection and provided the necessary parts and repairs, completing the outage event in only nine days, meeting JPS’ required maintenance schedule.

Wood Group GTS also provided its EcoValue compressor water wash technology, which will be installed by the customer for two GE Frame 6B gas turbines, which will increase its efficiency at the combined cycle plant.
