August 13, 2002 — Minnesota Power Inc. said it was on schedule to reconnect a 250 kV transmission line which was knocked out of service after storm damage.
The line stretches from central North Dakota to northern Minnesota and is co-owned by Minnesota Power Inc. and Minnkota Power Cooperative.
A tornado struck near Jamestown, N.D., on Sunday, damaging five transmission towers and putting the line out of service, Dow Jones Newswires reported.
Light power demand in the area has helped minimize the impact of the outage, although generators have had to reduce their output somewhat.
A spokesperson for Minnesota Power said the system could be working again by Tuesday evening.
