Utility Automation 2000 for Enterprisewide GIS
Environmental Systems Research Institute Inc. (ESRI) announced the implementation of an enterprisewide AM/FM/GIS by several major utility vendors through its business partner Utility Automation 2000 (Decatur, Ala.). The integrated information system offered by Utility Automation 2000 is based on ESRI`s GIS software on both UNIX and Windows NT platforms. Utility applications include PC-based work order system, trouble call analysis, telephony integration, distribution planning and SCADA integration. The AM/FM/GIS automates utility operations using the latest spatial technology for query, analysis and output of high-powered data visualization.
The GIS-maintained data include roads, customers, facility and plant information such as power lines, poles, manholes, transformers, regulators and capacitors. The enterprise-wide solution is being used by utility professionals including operations field crews, utility design and planning engineers and customer service representatives. Utility organizations that have selected Utility Automation 2000 include Choctawhatchee Electric Cooperative, Greer Commission of Public Works, Nantahala Power and White River Valley Electric Cooperative.
