Arcadian Networks and Itron join to deliver smart grid communications

Atlanta, October 19, 2009 — Arcadian Networks has entered into a joint marketing and development agreement with Itron Inc. The relationship combines the expertise of Itron, a leading provider of end-to-end smart grid solutions including smart meters and software, with Arcadian Networks’ secure, enterprise-wide broadband communication solutions for smart grid applications.

“This collaboration enables Itron and Arcadian to offer utilities a complete smart grid communication solution including integrated operations and backhaul communications for our advanced meter infrastructure and smart grid solutions. Arcadian’s SMART Network Methodology reflects their focus on providing smart grid communications solutions tailored specifically to the needs of the utility industry,” noted Philip Mezey, senior vice president and chief operating officer of Itron North America.

The real-time, two-way communication networks provide the backbone of all “smart” energy solutions –- delivering operating efficiencies, interoperability and security. Designed specifically for utility, oil and gas, and renewable energy industries, the IP converged networks are based on private, secured 700 MHz spectrum.
