Texas-New Mexico Power to use Ventyx outage restoration system

Texas-New Mexico Power Co. (TNMP), a transmission and distribution service provider that delivers power to 230,000 homes and businesses on behalf of retail electric providers in Texas, selected Ventyx software to help restore its customers’ power more quickly, safely and efficiently in the event of outages.

TNMP is automating its processes with a Ventyx solution as part of a broader implementation of an advanced metering system (AMS) throughout its service area. TNMP is installing up to 240,000 smart meters for residential and commercial customers to create a smart electric grid by 2016.

TNMP will install a new Ventyx outage management system (OMS), integrated with an advanced business analytics solution, to improve its outage lifecycle management process from planning to customer communications, service restoration and post-regulatory reporting.

Furthermore, the Ventyx software will help power TNMP’s new online outage center, which will allow customers to view outages and receive personalized notifications — as well as notify the utility of outages in their area. Customers will also be able to receive outage alerts by phone, email or text message. This will significantly improve customer communications. The agreement also includes a three-year contract with Ventyx Managed Services to provide 24/7 application services and support through Ventyx global service centers.
