Following a weekend ice storm, hundreds of thousands of customers were left without power in the Northeastern U.S., with utilities like Central Maine Power (CMP), Versant Power, Eversource, and National Grid still working on restoration efforts.
More than 200,000 Central Maine Power (CMP) customers were left without power after the Saturday night storm – and the utility has restored power for more than half so far, with restoration efforts still underway. CMP said it has fully restored its transmission system and impacted substations as its 900 crews work to restore power for the remaining roughly 82,000 customers still without power, according to poweroutage.us.

In addition to its restoration efforts, CMP says its crews responded to around 775 emergency calls for situations like blocked roads and downed power lines. The utility said customers in counties with “severe” damage, such as Cumberland, York, Lincoln, Waldo, Knox, and Sagadahoc, may not see their power restored until Wednesday. CMP says it pre-staged 150 crews before the storm, and hundreds more arrived on Sunday and Monday.
National Grid New York said it had restored power for 158,000 of the nearly 205,000 impacted customers by Sunday evening. By Monday afternoon, roughly 8,000 of its customers are still without power, according to poweroutage.us.
Versant Power said 16,000 Maine customers were still without power as of Sunday morning, but it restored power for 70% of them, with restoration efforts extending into Monday. As of Monday afternoon, only 9 customers are still without power, according to poweroutage.us.
On Sunday evening, Eversource New Hampshire said it had replaced 31 poles, cleared 119 blocked roads, and restored power for more than 87,000 customers. As of Monday afternoon, more than 16,000 Eversouce customers are still without power in New Hampshire, according to poweroutage.us.
Power’s back on Don Emerson Rd in Chesterfield! Our crews completed repairs to significant tree damage caused by the heavy snow and icing, and now they’re off to the next trouble spot. We won’t stop working until all our customers are restored. pic.twitter.com/to4QU4pAUC
