Landis+Gyr announced the DistribuTECH 2013 debut of the advanced two-way residential gas metering solution for use within the Gridstream platform.
The M120 module is a true two-way metering solution, operating within the scalable Gridstream RF mesh network and delivering near real-time data between the gas meter and utility. Consumption and interval data taken directly from the meter index empowers utilities to offer flexible rates and assist with capacity planning.
“Utilities serving electric and gas consumers need a solution with similar data and control capabilities for gas meters,” said Tim Weidenbach, Vice President of Product Management at Landis+Gyr. State-of-the-art and highly flexible, the module adapts to the existing meter and index. It can be factory installed for new meters or field installed on most common gas meters dating back to 1950. For easy deployment, the M120 module automatically registers itself on the Gridstream network upon installation and eliminates the need for field installation Tools. The two-way communication capabilities support on-request reads while enabling over-the-air firmware upgrades and configurations. Modules are designed with a 20-year battery life.
