Keeping up with compliance and reliability standards can be a pain in the neck for utilities: inaccurate or outdated data can create compounding issues for modeling, operations, and maintenance planning. One startup hopes to alleviate that pain with an all-in-one software solution specifically tailored for electric utilities.
A participant in this year’s DTECH Initiate program, Ferro Power Solutions provides utility-focused software solutions for asset management, compliance, model management, integrations, and more.
“Utilities generate massive amounts of data from multiple teams and pipelines,” said Isaac Hargrave, founder and CEO of Ferro Power Solutions. “With over a decade of industry experience, we understand the challenges of managing data, coordination, and compliance. FPS centralizes a utility’s asset data into a grid information hub and provides essential tools for coordination and compliance, including PRC-005, IRO-017, and FAC-008. We handle the data integration so you can focus on managing your part of the grid.”
Ferro Power Solutions points to NERC reliability standards as one major way it can help keep utilities compliant, especially concerning FAC-008 (Facility Ratings), MOD-033 (System Modeling), and outage and maintenance scheduling. When operating in separate silos, these processes can result in inefficiencies, compliance risks, and “costly mistakes,” the company argues.
“As former planning engineers, this is the solution we always wanted. You’ve likely heard the phrase ‘garbage in, garbage out’ in the artificial intelligence space,” Hargrave said. “By centralizing asset data, utilities can maximize the effectiveness of their AI/ML and predictive maintenance tools.”
At DTECH, Ferro Power Solutions is looking forward to meeting utilities face-to-face in an engaging setting to showcase how its solution—designed by engineers for engineers—is driving the future of grid information technology.
