ORLANDO, Fla., Jan. 21, 2004 — Officials with Datamatic, Ltd., have introduced CommSTAR MDx, a new Commercial and Industrial data retrieval system that supports all major brands of commercial and industrial meters for utilities.
The scaleable and flexible system, which was unveiled at the DistribuTECH Automation and Technology Conference in Orlando, is part of an advanced AMR system that will support not only multi-meter protocols but also existing and emerging communication technologies. Datamatic has been a supplier of enterprise meter reading solutions for gas, water and electric utilities worldwide since 1977.
“CommSTAR MDx is a significant breakthrough for utilities and meter data collection service providers,” said Datamatic President and CEO Ken Kercher. “CommSTAR MDx can remotely read C&I meters over a wide variety of communications infrastructures. This allows cost-effective collection of mission critical data for billing, forecasting, load research and other operational functions.”
Datamatic’s CommSTAR MDx is a true 32-bit client server based application that provides an easy-to-use user-friendly interface. In addition, the system provides validation, graphics, reporting and analysis tools to help manage the meter data.
Datamatic’s CommStar MDx can be used with Siemens®, Landis + Gyr®, Transdata® Schlumberger®, Elster®, GE®, Scientific Columbus®, and Power Measurement® meters, among others. CommSTAR MDx will enable the use of telephone, cellular, two-way pager, CDMA/GSM, 1xRTT/GPRS, CDPD, TCP/IP and private networks for meter communications. These options allow the user to take advantage of the most cost effective and reliable communications available.
