TransData announces first wireless AMR load profiling demand recorder with integrated CDMA digital cellular modem

DALLAS, Sept. 26, 2002 — TransData Inc. has introduced its MARK-V PCS Data Recorder, a two-channel load profiling demand recorder with a fully integrated CDMA Digital Cellular Modem for wireless telemetry of accumulated pulse data across digital cellular networks.

Designed for electric, gas and water metering applications, the MARK-V PCS Data Recorder collects pulses from the meter and then transmits the data via CDMA digital cellular networks to the utility’s data collection center. The MARK-V PCS Data Recorder is CDMA network approved by several leading North American CDMA digital cellular networks including Verizon Wireless, Sprint PCS, Alltel and TELUS.

The MARK-V PCS Data Recorder and MARK-V PCS Energy Meter will be the focal points of TransData’s exhibit at next weeks Automatic Meter Reading Association (AMRA) Symposium being held in San Antonio, Texas from September 29 to October 3, 2002.

The MARK-V PCS Data Recorder provides an immediate solution to automate data retrieval from existing meter sites not equipped for remote communications. Additionally, with many utility customers requesting access to electricity meter data to monitor energy usage, the MARK-V PCS Data Recorder provides a secure point of contact for them to retrieve electricity consumption data without compromising the security of the meter.

Housed in a NEMA enclosure rated for outdoor applications, the MARK-V PCS Data Recorder can be mounted either inside the meter cabinet, or adjacent to it. The MARK-V PCS Data Recorder provides storage capacity for 295 days of 15-minute interval pulse data and is compatible with Itron/UTS MV-90 and ABB Energy Profiler software packages. An available LCD permits displaying accumulated pulse data and allows scaling to read-out in direct KWh and KVARh engineering units.
