PCTEL demonstrates utility antenna innovations at DistribuTECH

PCTEL, Inc. (PCTI), a leader in Performance Critical Telecom solutions, will highlight its latest utility antenna innovations featuring Sentient Energy’s MM3 line monitor at DistribuTECH 2017. PCTEL developed purpose-built embedded antennas and provided integration expertise to assist Sentient Energy, Inc. in obtaining cellular certification for their wireless devices.

The utility industry is undergoing a major transformation as providers seek to improve power quality and reliability, reduce energy waste, and minimize customer costs. These new challenges require new solutions. PCTEL is working with OEMs and solution providers to enhance the intelligence of the grid.

“Sentient Energy is a leader in intelligent line sensor and analytics technology,” said Mark Sloan, Sentient Energy, Inc.’s Senior VP Engineering/Product Design & Development. “We developed Sentient’s MM3à¢â€ž- line monitor to be a powerful sensor that will serve as the basis of a diverse set of distributed applications deployed across the grid. Sentient Energy is very pleased that PCTEL collaborated with us to develop an advanced LTE communication solution for our line sensors,” added Sloan.

“PCTEL is proud to have contributed to this advanced energy-saving initiative. Effective wireless communications are key to solving business and environmental problems,” said Rishi Bharadwaj, Senior Vice President and General Manager of PCTEL’s Connected Solutions group. “Our ability to break through difficult RF problems by designing optimal antenna solutions and integrating radio hardware has made us the leading antenna provider for many energy and industrial IoT applications. We welcome the opportunity to join together with Sentient Energy in tackling these emerging issues,” added Bharadwaj.

PCTEL will demonstrate its portfolio of industrial wireless and utility antennas, featuring the MM3, at DistribuTECH booth #1441, January 31 – February 2 in San Diego, California.
