VANCOUVER, BC, September 6, 2001 – Hafez Panju, VP, Systems & Production of IntraCoastal System Engineering Corporation is pleased to report that an agreement has been signed with Optimal Technologies International Inc.
Under the terms of the agreement, Optimal Technologies will implement IntraCoastal’s 2-Way Power Line Communication technology into a new product line being offered to Electrical Utilities for energy management and automation.
Optimal Technologies (www.otii.com), with offices in Benicia, California and Calgary, Alberta, recently signed a contract with the State of California. Optimal plans to provide Utilities with its new – SureFast System for real-time Demand Side Management (DSM).
DSM is viewed as one of the primary solutions for addressing the large power crisis that is occurring in California – a crisis soon to effect many other states. “We believe very strongly in the DSM application and our PLC Technology is ideal for solving the communication requirements within the home,” said Mr. Vid Wadhwani, IntraCoastal’s Chairman and COO.
“Optimal Technologies’ products are said to be World class and their SureFast System is an excellent solution.” Roland Schoettle, Chairman and CEO of Optimal Technologies reports, “We feel that PLC is a vital component for DSM functionality and believe that IntraCoastal’s technology will be very beneficial to the SureFast System.”
SureFast further enhances Optimal’s unique proprietary QuixFlow technology – breakthrough network analysis and optimization algorithms that allow previously not possible end-to-end Supply-Side and Demand-Side efficiencies.
“What I think Optimal has developed is an algorithm that people have attempted to develop for 50 years,” said Winston Hickox, head of the California Environmental Protection Agency.
IntraCoastal System Engineering Corporation has a line of proprietary and patented Power Line Communication products.
One application of this technology is in the field of telemetry for Automated Meter Reading (AMR) and two commercial installations are underway in China and Vietnam. Another application is in the area of Home Networking and a two-way PLC license has been signed with Domosys Corporation. The company’s shares are listed as ISY on the Canadian Venture Exchange (CDNX).
