Vestas Receives Wind Turbine Orders for Italy and Spain

Vestas Italia has received one order for 34 units of the V52-850 kW wind turbine for the Monte della Difesa project, located near Salerno, in the region of Campania, in Southern Italy. A second order is from Spain.

The Italian contract includes delivery, installation, commissioning, VestasOnline Business SCADA system as well as a service and availability agreement for five years. “We are very satisfied with this order, which confirms the competitiveness of the V52 turbine, with its high efficiency and proven versatility for all types of wind conditions,” said Rainer Karan, General Manager of Vestas Italia. By December 2006, Vestas had installed almost 1,900 units of the V52 all over the world. The wind power plant has an estimated annual production capacity of 70,500 megawatt-hours (MWh). The order has been placed by AceaElectrabel Produzione SpA, a company belonging to the AceaElectrabel Group, a large utility active in the Italian energy market that was set up through a joint venture between the Italian ACEA S.p.A. and the Belgian Electrabel SA. Delivery is scheduled to start in October 2007, and the project will be completed during the first half of 2008. Vestas has also received an order from Spain for 94 units of the V90-1.8 and 2.0 MW turbines for several projects in different provinces in Spain. The order also comprises supply, installation, commissioning, as well as a five-year service and maintenance agreement and VestasOnline Business SCADA solution. The Spanish order has been placed by the client NEO Energia, a company exclusively working with renewable energy. Delivery of the turbines to Spain is scheduled to start in July 2008, and the last project is expected to be completed in August 2009. The wind power plants will in total produce approximately 560,000 MWh per year.
