Vestas Receives Order for 18 Wind Turbines for Italy

Vestas Italia has received an order for 18 units of the V90-2.0 MW wind turbine for the Callari project in Sicily, near Catania, which when complete, is estimated to product 75,000 megawatt-hours (MWh) per year.

Delivery is scheduled to start in September 2008, and the project will be completed by the end of 2008. The contract includes delivery, installation, commissioning and the VestasOnline Business SCADA solution, as well as a five-year service and availability agreement.

The order has been placed by Callari S.r.l., a company fully owned by Alerion Industries S.p.A., an investment company listed on the Milan Stock Exchange, whose core business is production of electricity from renewable energy sources.

“It is our first project with Callari S.r.l., and we are very proud to have been chosen as a supplier”- said Rainer Karan, General Manager of Vestas Italia S.r.l. “This new order also confirms the attractiveness of Sicily as an ideal setting for wind turbines due to the remarkable wind potential.”

Vestas Italia has been awarded ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certifications.
