Husum, Germany [RenewableEnergyWorld.com] REpower Systems AG has been awarded a contract to supply fifteen MM92 wind turbines to Saxovent. Both companies signed a corresponding contract at the Husum WindEnergy trade fair in Germany. With a hub height of 100 meters and rated power of 2 megawatts (MW) each, the turbines will be erected at a windy coastal location in North East Germany in 2010, the companies said.
“We regard REpower as a strong and qualified partner for this project. We intend to construct more wind farms in the North German region in the medium term and we are also looking to collaborate with REpower for these projects, meaning we could also make use of synergies in the service area,” said Carsten Paatsch, managing director of Saxovent.
REpower also signed a Letter of Understanding (LoU) with Canadian company Gastops at the trade fair for the supply of 2,000 oil particle sensors. These sensors will be part of the monitoring systems REpower uses in the drive trains of its onshore and offshore wind turbines. Following comprehensive tests, REpower will fit the sensors, which are recognized by German insurance companies, into its turbines starting in October of this year.
