Portugal Secures Danish Wind Turbines

September 8, 2003 {SolarAccess.com] Danish Wind Technology A/S, a subsidiary of the Vestas Group, has received turnkey contracts in Portugal for a total of 34 MW with options for supply of additional 24 MW. The orders comprise a total of 17 units of Vestas V80-2.0 MW turbines, towers, remote monitoring system, foundations, electrical and civil infrastructure as well as operation and maintenance of the power plants. These projects are scheduled for completion in 2004 and will be located in the central region of Portugal. The contracts, which have a value to Vestas of more than EUR 57 million (US$63.2 million), have been awarded by Enersis SGPS, S.A., the largest Portuguese wind energy developer, and Enernova – Novas Energias, S.A., the second largest wind energy developer in Portugal, owned by the local utility EDP – Electricidade de Portugal S.A.
