Schneider Electric added 4 three-phase inverters for the North American market. Xantrex GT500-480 and GT500-600 inverters feature a two-section enclosure design. Three new inverters compliant with Ontario’s FIT program will be available to the Canadian market later this year.
May 2, 2011 — Schneider Electric added four three-phase inverters for the North American market. In the United States, Schneider Electric debuted the Xantrex GT500-480 Grid Tie Solar Inverter. Three new inverters compliant with Ontario’s feed-in tariff (FIT) program will be available to the Canadian market later this year.
Through one of its existing facilities in Mississauga, Ontario, Schneider Electric has been delivering FIT domestic content compliant products since August 2010. Three new inverters are being added to the existing lineup to accommodate the standard 600VAC distribution systems commonly found in Canadian buildings:
- The Xantrex GT500-600 is a grid-tie solar inverter for large commercial and utility applications, with a CEC efficiency of 96%. Based on the GT500MVX inverter platform, the GT500-600 features a new industrial design for improved reliability, consisting of a two-section enclosure with inverter and DC section in one cabinet, and transformer and AC section in another. This new inverter design integrates high-quality Schneider Electric components, including AC and DC circuit breakers and a premium efficiency transformer.
- The Xantrex GT100 and GT250 incorporate an advanced Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) algorithm to maximize the energy harvested from a photovoltaic array. To help reduce power losses during the conversion process, the inverter uses the latest switching devices and a high-efficiency transformer to achieve a weighted CEC efficiency of 96%. The inverters and their sub-components are tested using Highly Accelerated Life Testing (HALT) and Multiple Environment Over Stress Testing (MEOST).
For the US market:
- Schneider Electric will introduce the Xantrex GT500-480 grid-tie solar inverter for large commercial and utility applications with a CEC efficiency of 96%. Based on the GT500MVX, the GT500 600 also features the two-section enclosure with inverter and DC section in one cabinet, and transformer and AC section in another. The integrated design reduces installation time and simplifies site preparation requirements. The inverter integrates high-quality Schneider Electric components.
