Utility Lowers Green Power Rates for Customers

[RenewableEnergyAccess.com] A green power program so popular that the utility lowers its rates? Seems unlikely, but Lower Valley Energy (LVE) of Wyoming said its listening to its customers and adjusting the rates so their Green Power initiative is more affordable. LVE is eliminating the administrative margin between what it pays for wind power and what it charges its members so residential members rate will decrease from $5.00 to $3.50 for one block of Green Power, which equals 300 kWh. Commercial members will now pay $17.50 instead of $25 for one Partner Level block of Green Power, 1,500kWh; and $35.00 instead of $50 for one Champion Level block of GreenPower, 3,000kWh. The Foote Creek Wind Project provides power for the utility’s program. LVE feeds its energy pool from a variety of sources, such as hydropower and coal, with a very small fraction consisting of wind power.
