The United States Trade and Development Agency (TDA) seeks consultants to study funding opportunities for energy projects, including hydropower, in Sub-Saharan Africa. Responses are due May 29.
TDA seeks U.S.-based consultants to carry out the definitional mission for an estimated cost of US$85,000. The study is to focus on energy projects that could support agricultural product processing in Mauritius, Malawi, Benin, and a fourth country to be determined by the contractor and TDA. Simultaneously, TDA seeks consultants to evaluate agricultural projects in the same countries.
TDA said the definitional mission will analyze direct requests for assistance it has received from the region as well as any new opportunities that might be discovered during the mission.
The consultant team is expected to consist of two energy or power experts, TDA said. Specific expertise in hydropower, biofuels, petroleum, natural gas, and bagasse is needed to satisfy requirements of the mission, the agency said. Familiarity with energy sources in the region and U.S.-sponsored agricultural programs and multi-lateral donor assistance in the sector also is required.
