Two unique offerings in the HYDROVISION International knowledge hubs

HYDROVISION International

The two knowledge hubs at HYDROVISION International 2021 will host a couple of exciting opportunities to be aware of, when you’re in Spokane, Wash., U.S., next month.

In the Learning from Case Studies knowledge hub, a screening of a movie called Safe Passage: The Race to Save One of the Last Great Wild Salmon Runs will take place, sponsored by Whooshh. This session will be Tuesday, Sept. 21 at 4:30-5:15 pm. Here is a description of this recently released movie, produced by Warner Hanson Television:

“In 2019, an enormous rock slide devastated the summer’s salmon run on the Fraser. This year a massive effort is underway to change that. SAFE PASSAGE explores the importance of wild salmon and offers an in-depth look at the efforts taking place to ensure that this historic run survives. New technologies are being employed to whoosh the fish over the landslide and upriver, including the use of the groundbreaking and viral sensation “salmon cannon.” And we look at the bigger picture of what these fish mean to both humans and the ecosystem. Viewers experience first hand the high-wire act of people employing new ideas and technologies that will pave the way for other runs experiencing similar obstacles. The stories offer a compelling drama of grit, survival and determination.”

And in the Technology Horizons knowledge hub, Clarion Energy is hosting an informal reception called Women’s Meet & Greet: Get to Know the Women Making a Difference in the Hydropower Industry. The reception will take place Tuesday, Sept. 21 from 5:30-6:30 pm.

This reception allows an informal networking opportunity for all who are interested in ensuring gender diversity in the hydropower industry. We encourage attendance at this reception to make connections with peers, and our Women with Hydro Vision lunch on Wednesday, Sept. 22 at 12:45 pm is a great follow-up, to meet the 2021 Women with Hydro Vision award winners, learn their stories and strengthen those connections.
