3-in-1 Serial Server
Moxa has launched the new NPort IAW5000A-6I/O, which integrates a RS-232/422/485 serial device server, a Wi-Fi client/bridge and multiple digital I/Os into a single compact device. By deploying the NPort IAW5000A-6I/O, plant managers can wirelessly connect machinery to an IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n network for the collection, remote monitoring and analyzing of real-time visual insights on machine performance.

Any RS-232/422/485 serial or Ethernet device in the field can be linked to a wireless device. The multiple digital I/Os make the NPort IAW5000A-6I/O ideal for industrial data acquisition for heighened efficiency, reduce production downtime and lower overall costs. The NPort IAW5000A-6I/O supports baudrates between 50 and 921.6 kbps. A major threat thwarted by the device is damage from power surges.

SP6 Gas Measuring Device
DILO GmbH, a manufacturer of SF6 gas handling equipment with its headquarters in Babenhausen/Bavaria, Germany, has brought a new generation of SF6 Multi-Analyzer multiple measuring devices to market. This allows the SF6 gas quality to be checked easily in accordance with the (EU) F-Gas regulation and IEC Standard 60480 (reuse specifications).
To ensure a trouble-free and uninterrupted energy supply, the SF6 quality of fiber gas insulated equipment in energy provision must be checked, as also specified in the EU F-Gas Regulation 517/2014. The three parameters which determine the quality, SF6 concentration, humidity and quantity of decomposition products, can now be measured in one single operation with the new SF6 Multi-Analyzer. As a result, service specialists can determine on site whether the gas still complies with the IEC Standard 60480 (SF6 reuse) or whether it needs purification.

Overhead Conductor
Southwire has developed a new overhead conductor for overhead lines designed to handle extreme ice loads. The company says its new Max Ice overhead conductors sag less under heavy ice loads. That saves the transmission owner money, because support structures don’t need to be as tall.
The high mechanical strength of Max Ice overhead conductors can increase the strength margins for the longest spans and most extreme storm conditions. Max Ice is composed of high-temperature-tolerant ZTAL (AT-3) aluminum zirconium alloy, a high-strength steel core and mischmetal alloy coating for high heat tolerance and corrosion protection. A small conductor size means less ice weight for the same ice thickness, and lower weight reduces sag and puts less stress on transmission towers.

Fiber Optic Repeater
Belden Inc. has released a new version of its PROFIBUS fiber optic repeater. The OZD Profi 12M G22 allows PROFIBUS networks to communicate over longer distances through fast and reliable fiber optic signals, while also guaranteeing signal reliability through integrated redundancy technology.
This new device builds on the family of Hirschmann PROFIBUS repeaters with higher signal conversion capacity. Specific enhanced capabilities of this repeater include: extended operating distances for PROFIBUS communications thanks to two electrical and two optical ports; failsafe communications with built-in ring redundancy, without any measureable interruption (i.e., within 0 milliseconds); the highest data integrity, despite harsh environments, sheltered by a robust metal housing with protective coating on the internal components; high-speed data transmissions, up to 12 Mbps – among the fastest in the industry; and support of singlemode, multimode and plastic fiber.
