The Clean Water Coalition of Nevada seeks proposals to supply turbine and generator equipment for the 16-MW SCOP hydroelectric project to be powered by treated wastewater. Proposals are due Feb. 5, 2009.
CWC previously requested letters of interest from turbine-generator suppliers who could equip a new project. (HNN 10/23/07) It is planning and designing the Systems Conveyance and Operation Program (SCOP), a regional system to transport treated wastewater from the member agencies to an outfall location in Lake Mead.
CWC, a joint powers authority located in the Las Vegas area, includes Clark County Water Reclamation District and the cities of Las Vegas, Henderson, and North Las Vegas.
As part of the SCOP project, CWC anticipates building the hydro plant on a transport tunnel to be constructed on National Park Service land that would use the drop in elevation from the treatment plant to Lake Mead.
CWC seeks two vertical Pelton turbines, spherical inlet valves, flexible steel pipe couplings, hydraulic power units, vertical synchronous generators, process control, instrument system, and appurtenant equipment and materials. The work must be completed by Oct. 1, 2011.
