Many hydro technology events included in HydroVision pre-conference activities

Workshops, seminars and other events focusing on many aspects of hydropower technology kick off in advance of the upcoming HydroVision International Conference and Exhibition in North Carolina.

From workshops on hydro generator windings and hydroelectric bearings to a technical tour of a Duke Power Company hydro project, conference-related activities abound, beginning July 26.

HydroVision, the year’s largest gathering of hydropower professionals, is planned for July 27-30, 2010, at the Charlotte Convention Center in Charlotte, N.C.

HydroVision International 2010 will highlight perspectives on the role of hydropower, explore issues affecting hydro resources and help participants develop a vision to meet challenges and ensure the future sustainability of hydropower. The conference will bring together a broad range of worldwide hydro professionals with environmental, technical, social and regulatory perspectives.

To begin the week’s hydropower activities, take advantage of organizational meetings, seminars, briefings and workshops offered in addition to the conference agenda.

Technical activities include workshops on innovative small hydro technology, new features in FLOW-3D, technical trends and development of pumped-storage and variable speed machines and a variety of other subjects. Also offered is a technical tour of Duke Power Company’s Bridgewater Hydro Station.

In addition to the many tech-related events, the pre-conference offerings include workshops, meetings and other events geared toward regulatory issues, environmental issues, research and development and a range of other hydro-related topics.
