The government of Iraq seeks bids to supply air compressor parts and transformer electrical equipment for the 415-MW Dokan hydroelectric project on Iraq’s Lesser Zab River. Bids are due June 10.
The World Bank approved a US$40 million loan to Iraq to finance urgent repairs and to prepare for subsequent full rehabilitation of Dokan and the 249-MW Derbandikhan project in Iraq’s Kurdistan Region. The multi-purpose projects, which require major rehabilitation due to neglect and damage from war, were built in 1975 and 1987 to serve the Iraq grid as peaking plants.
Under the program, the government invited expressions of interest in 2012 to diagnose and eliminate vibrations and overheating of turbine-generators at Dokan.
In the current solicitation, the General Directorate of Electricity of Sulaymaniyah, Kurdistan Regional Government, seeks bids for supply of spare parts for eight air compressors at Dokan as well as two spare excitation transformers, 670-kVa, 138000/320-V.
