Equipment sought for Madagascar’s 550-kW Befanaova

Italian builder Zecca Prefabbricati S.p.A. seeks bids to supply generating equipment for the 550-kW Befanaova hydroelectric project on the Sahambano River in Madagascar. Bids are due March 31.

With financing from the European Development Fund, Zecca seeks equipment for Befanaova and a rural electrification project in Ihosy, Madagascar.

Equipment is to include a turbine rated for a flow of 5 cubic meters per second, and a head of 15 meters, with a machine valve for pressure pipe of 1,400 millimeters in diameter. Also included are control systems, a synchronous generator of 900 kilovolt-amperes to 400 volts with a three-phase transformer.

Supply is to include all distribution panels, auxiliary installations, transport, on-site assembly, and training of management staff.
