The government of Nicaragua invites expressions of interest from consultants to redesign small hydro projects for an off-grid electrification program. Responses are due January 11.
With funding from the World Bank’s International Development Association and Global Environment Facility, Nicaragua seeks consultants for its Project of Rural Electrification in Isolated Zones (PERZA).
Specifically, the Comision Nacional de Energia (CNE) seeks redesign to optimal capacity of two small hydro projects, Wapi and Tortuguero. Work includes evaluation of the optimal potential of the sites’ hydraulic resources to meet local power needs as well as to sell excess energy to the transmission grid.
The chosen consultant also is to determine physical and financial investment requirements of the selected pilot project sites, and to design construction plans, engineering specifications, and solicitation documents.
Prospective bidders may obtain documents and additional information from the address below from: Herminia Martinez, Coordinadora del Proyecto PERZA, E-mail: [email protected], or Aura Maria Gonzalez Alvarez, Coordinadora Departamento de Contrataciones, E-mail: [email protected].
Expressions of interest, and qualifications, are due by 5 p.m. January 11 to Presidente Ernesto Espinoza, Comision Nacional de Energia, Proyecto de Electrificacion Rural en Zonas Aislada, PERZA, Contiguo al Ministerio de Defensa, Managua, Nicaragua; (505) 222-5576; Fax: (505) 222-4629; E-mail: [email protected]; Internet: www.cne.gob.ni.
