Macedonia’s Ministry of Economy seeks bids for concessions to develop 20 hydropower projects of up to 5 MW each. Bid documents must be obtained by January 16, with bids due April 16.
The government offers 20-year concessions for development on a design-build-operate-transfer basis for sites in the Vardar, Strumica, and Crni Drim river basins.

The latest solicitation is part of a government program to develop 400 small hydro projects that would meet 10 percent of Macedonia’s energy requirements.
Obligations of a concession winner include: elaboration of project documentation, providing all licenses and fulfilling all license requirements, constructing facilities according to documentation, managing and maintenance of facilities, and transfer of ownership to the government at the end of the concession.
