Madagascar’s national utility has issued a series of solicitations seeking rehabilitation work at three hydroelectric projects and parts of the nation’s transmission network.
With a US$10 million credit from the World Bank’s International Development Association, utility Jiro Sy Rano Malagasy (Jirama) plans to recruit contractors for a utility reorganization program that includes rehabilitation of existing hydropower plants and development of new independent hydropower projects. 58-MW Andekaleka
Jirama currently seeks bids by 3 p.m. November 13 for replacement or reconditioning of hydro generator coolers at the 58-MW Andekaleka hydroelectric project. The work, in two lots, includes study, design, and replacement of six hydro generator coolers with control and protection equipment and other equipment, plus study and reconditioning of six more coolers.
8.34-MW Antelomita
Jirama seeks bids by 3 p.m. November 15 for rehabilitation of turbine-generator unit No. 3 of the 8.34-MW Antelomita hydroelectric project. Work includes rehabilitation of a head valve, turbine assembly, governor, generator, and excitation system; scouring and painting the exterior of the pressure pipe; and replacement of the transformer, cables, wiring, control and protection equipment, and circuit breakers.
6.76-MW Volobe
Jirama seeks bids by 3 p.m. November 17 for refurbishment of the 6.76-MW Volobe hydroelectric project. Work includes rehabilitation of the turbine and excitation system of Unit 5201; the governor of Unit 5401; and the protection, voltage regulation, and circuit breakers of Units 5202, 5203, and 5401.
The utility also seeks bids by November 6 and 8 for transmission system work.
