The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers plans to seek bids to refurbish a 35-ton tailrace gantry crane at 1,780-MW Dalles Dam on the Columbia River. A solicitation is expected in mid-November with bids to be due in December.
The Corps took bids in June for construction of a fire safety system at The Dalles. The agency awarded a contract in September to McMillen LLC for fishway modifications at The Dalles and another in 2012 to Normandeau Associates Inc. to perform fish counting services at The Dalles and seven other federal hydropower projects on the Columbia and Snake rivers.
The Corps’ Portland District now says it intends in November to issue a solicitation set aside for small businesses to refurbish a 35-ton tailrace gantry crane providing and installing a new 40-ton rated hoist and trolley, new cab, new gantry drive, new platforms and ladders, and a new conductor support system. The work is valued at $1 million to $5 million.
A pre-solicitation notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering Solicitation No. W9127N13R0037 in the “Keyword/Solicitation #” box. Bids are expected to be due in December.
