LITTLE ROCK, Ark., U.S. 2/6/12 (PennWell) — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers seeks bids from small businesses to blast clean, repair, and paint two penstocks and related equipment of the 96-MW Greers Ferry hydroelectric project in Arkansas. Bids are due Feb. 17.
The Corps’ Little Rock District solicited information in November on small businesses capable of performing the work.
The work is to include blast cleaning, repairing, and painting interior steel surfaces of two main-unit penstock assemblies, scroll cases, and wicket gates. Both penstocks are about 190 feet long, with diameters of 18.5 feet that taper down to eight feet. Each unit contains 24 wicket gates with a surface area of 17.7 square feet each.
The work is valued at between $1 million and $5 million.
