The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers seeks development of a hydraulic model for dam safety work at Isabella Dam on California’s Kern River. Bids are due June 10.
Built in 1953 as a flood control and water conservation structure, Isabella Dam is being studied for remedial actions to prevent possible failure during earthquakes. Isabella Dam is the site of the 11.95-MW Isabella project (No. 8377).
The Corps’ Sacramento District requested information in January on firms capable of performing geophysical surveying of Isabella Dam.
The Corps now seeks bids for development of a physical hydraulic model and testing Froude similitude of the physical model for the proposed emergency spillway at Isabella Dam.
