The Bureau of Reclamation seeks information on firms able to repair radial gates and perform other refurbishment at 13.5-MW Nimbus Dam on California’s American River. Responses are due Sept. 27.
Nimbus Dam is an 87-foot-tall, 1,093-foot-long concrete gravity structure commissioned in 1955. It forms Lake Natoma, which reregulates releases for power from 198.72 Folsom Dam. Nimbus and Folsom are components of Reclamation’s Central Valley Project.
Reclamation seeks information on firms able to perform radial gate and related work. Responses to a sources sought notice are to help the agency determine the type of solicitation to be issued for the work.
Work is to include repairs to 14 radial gates, one at a time over five years at an estimated cost exceeding $10 million. Tasks include removal and disposal of coatings, installing galvanic anode cathodic protection systems, concrete repair, and mechanical repairs including replacing components, weld repairs and painting. Other work includes waterway and marine construction and constructing a bulkhead storage building.
