The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers invites expressions of interest from firms capable of performing habitat creation, cultural resource site stabilization, and earth moving work along the Missouri River, including its six mainstem hydroelectric projects. Responses are due Feb. 14.
The Corps’ Omaha District intends to award a multiple award task order for such work along the Missouri from St. Louis upstream to 185.3-MW Fort Peck Dam in Montana under the Missouri River Recovery Program. It requested similar information about prospective contractors in 2011.
The Missouri River Recovery Program creates habitat in response to ecosystem restoration and threatened species protection goals defined in the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s 2003 amended biological opinion. The contract is to include the Missouri River, adjacent flood plain, and the lower 12 miles of larger tributaries flowing into the Missouri. Cultural resource site stabilization and earth moving activities for the six Missouri River mainstem dams and their associated reservoirs also are included.
The Corps issued a sources sought notice seeking information on firms, primarily small businesses, able to perform the work, which is to require floating plant capable of placing and removing stone from a navigation channel, mechanical and hydraulic dredging equipment, heavy earthwork equipment for horizontal construction, and routine concrete construction.
