The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers seeks information on firms able to install dam monitoring instrumentation at Trinidad Dam on Colorado’s Purgatoire River. Responses are due May 21.
The Corps awarded a contract in March to Holt Services Inc. to perform drilling to replace inclinometers monitoring what the agency called a “massive landslide” at 2,620-MW Chief Joseph Dam in Washington.
The 208-foot-tall earthfill Trinidad Dam was constructed for flood control, irrigation, municipal water supply for Trinidad, Colo., and recreation. It is utilized by the Purgatoire River Water Conservancy District.
In a sources sought notice, the Corps’ Albuquerque District seeks information on firms able to drill and install inclinometers and piezometers at Trinidad Dam. It plans to use responses to determine the type of solicitation for the work.
Work is to include construction of a temporary access road on a large earthen dam slope, 2,100 feet of sonic drilling at 12 locations, soil sampling and installation of four inclinometers and eight piezometers. The work is valued at $250,000 to $500,000.
The sources sought notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering Solicitation No. W912PP14R0029 in the “Keyword/Solicitation #” box. A solicitation is expected in June with bids to be due in July.
