U.S. seeks contractors for cable link to Alaska’s Moose Creek Dam

NORTH POLE, Alaska, U.S. 12/8/11 (PennWell) — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers seeks information about firms capable of installing fiber-optic cable to connect its project office to Moose River Dam, part of the Corps’ Chena River Lakes Project at North Pole. Responses are due January 9, 2012.

The Corps’ Alaska District seeks information on small businesses capable of installing fiber-optic cable to link the components of the Chena River Lakes Project, the northernmost flood control project operated by the Corps to protect Fairbanks and surrounding areas. The project includes 50-foot-tall, 8.1-mile-long Moose Creek Dam on the Chena River and the 10-foot-tall, 20.7-mile-long Tanana River Levee.

The Corps issued a sources sought notice from which responses will determine the type of solicitation to be issued. The work is valued at between $250,000 and $500,000.
