U.S. seeks bids to refurbish spillway gate hoists at 10-MW Fontenelle Dam

The Bureau of Reclamation seeks bids to refurbish radial spillway gate hoists at 10-MW Fontenelle Dam on the Green River in Wyoming. Bids are due Aug. 22.

Fontenelle Dam began generating electricity in 1968 as part of Reclamation’s Seedskadee Project, authorized with the Colorado River Storage Project in 1956. Reclamation awarded a contract in 2009 to Turbine Control Service Associates Inc. to provide a static excitation system for Fontenelle.

In a solicitation set aside for small businesses, Reclamation seeks refurbishment of radial gate hoists, specifying four items, replacement of Fontenelle radial gate hoist No. 1 with a new unit, refurbishment of radial gate hoist No. 1, replacement of radial gate hoist No. 2 with a new unit, and refurbishment of radial gate hoist No. 2.

The agency said it expects a contractor to provide pricing to recondition and pricing to replace one hoist during fiscal year 2013. The decision whether to recondition or replace the unit will be made after it is disassembled and inspected. An option to recondition or replace the second hoist will be awarded at the government’s discretion.

Reclamation said it intends to conduct an online reverse auction to be administered by FedBid Inc. in which bidders may submit a series of pricing bids. For information, contact FedBid at (1) 877-933-3243; E-mail: [email protected]; Internet: www.fedbid.com.

A solicitation notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering solicitation No. R13PS42006 in the “Keyword/Solicitation #” box.
