The Western Area Power Authority has extended the deadline for bids to supply a transformer for 1,312-MW Glen Canyon Dam on the Colorado River. Bids now are due Sept. 17.
WAPA originally requested bids by Sept. 11. The Bureau of Reclamation took bids in July for four hydro generator overhauls and in April to replace generator step-up transformers at Glen Canyon, in Arizona. Glen Canyon operators have been experimenting with flow releases to optimize generation while helping restore river environment.
In a solicitation set aside for small businesses, WAPA now seeks bids to supply one autotransformer, three-phase, 230/69-13.8 kilovolt, 30,000/40,000/50,000-9,000/12,000/14,000 kilovolt-ampere, triple rated ONAN/ONAF/ONAF with mineral oil, features, and accessories.
A solicitation notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering Solicitation No. DESOL0006022 in the “Keyword/Solicitation #” box.
Bids are due by noon, Mountain time, Sept. 17. For information contact Susan Ethridge, Contract Specialist, Western Area Power Administration, P.O. Box 6457, Phoeniz, AZ 85005; (1) 602-605-2504; E-mail: [email protected].
