Tajikistan utility Barki Tojik invites expressions of interest from consultants for procurement and for construction of the 3,600-MW Rogun hydroelectric project on Tajikistan’s Vakhsh River. Responses to two solicitations are due November 7 and 10.
The World Bank has committed to help finance the government of Tajikistan for studies to assess the possibility of developing the 3,600-MW Rogun hydroelectric project, whose construction began in 1980, but stalled at the end of the Soviet era. Rogun is among about 10 hydro projects, either operating or planned, in the Vakhsh River Cascade.
In the first of two solicitations, Barki Tojik seeks expressions of interest by 2 p.m. November 7 to the address below from consultants to assist the Project Implementation Unit in carrying out project procurement. The work is to require six months with possible extension for another six months.
In the second solicitation, Barki Tojik seeks expressions of interest by 2 p.m. November 10 to the address below from consultants to assist the Project Implementation Unit in hydropower facilities construction. Assistance is to include geology and hydrogeology; assessment of the ground and underground structures, construction materials, and infrastructure; and on hydrological issues in the framework of assessment studies of Rogun. Positions include geologist-hydrogeologist, engineer-hydro constructor, and hydrologist. The work is to require six months with possible extension for another six months.
