The Association of State Dam Safety Officials is soliciting statements of qualifications and proposals from engineering consulting firms, research groups, academics and others who are qualified to develop and conduct a two-day technical training seminar titled Dam Failures & Lessons Learned.
Course Objectives: To provide a general understanding of the full range of dam failures, failure processes, consequences of dam failures, defensive design measures and lessons learned from dam failures.
Audience: This course is intended as a general introductory course for persons with minimal to moderate experience in the design and construction of dams, emergency response and safety evaluation of existing or proposed dam structures.
Deadline for Proposals: Sept. 9, 2011
Required Elements: Please include the following in the proposal:
– Detailed course outline, proposed length of seminar, a list and description of course materials, and a list of proposed speakers.
– Qualifications for teaching the particular subject matter.
– Examples of previous similar courses developed and taught.
– A detailed budget with a breakdown of costs and a total bid.
– A general range of available dates for presenting the seminar in 2013 and preferred locations.
