The 455-MW Novosibirsk hydro plant was evacuated after a bomb threat.
According to news sources, a spokesperson for the facility said emergency services notified an engineer on duty of the possible presence of an explosive device on the premises. The threat was evidently phoned in.
News agencies are reporting that anywhere from 100 to more than 230 workers were evacuated and bomb dispersal experts searched the plant with the aid of bomb-sniffing dogs.
The most recent reports indicate no explosives were found and workers have returned to the site.
Evidently this is not the first such situation at this plant. Reports indicate a bomb threat was received in 2010 but it turned out to be false.
RusHydro owns the facility, which is also called Novosibirskaya and is located on the Ob River in western Siberia.
