The government of Iran’s Alborz Integrated Land and Water Management Project (AILWMP) has awarded one construction contract and a series of contracts for consulting services to help plan, manage, and coordinate the irrigation and water project of Alborz Dam, being built on the Babol River.
Iran applied for a US$140 million loan from the World Bank’s International Bank for Reconstruction and Development for the land and water management project.
AILWMP awarded consultancy contracts to:
o Deutsche Forest Services GmbH (Germany), 607,634 euros and 858.6 million rials (total US$868,242) for upper watershed, forestry, and rangeland management;
o SNC Lavalin International Inc. (Canada) and Hydrosult Inc., US$4.2 million and 40.2 billion rials (total US$8.6 million) for irrigation and drainage management;
o National Engineering Services (Nespak, Pakistan), US$2.3 million and 56.7 billion rials (total US$8.5 million) for integrated water resources and environmental management; and
o Arcadis Euro Consult (Netherlands) and Yekom Consulting Engineers (Iran), 2.3 million euros and 11.5 billion rials (total US$4.2 million) for project implementation and coordination support.
AILWMP also awarded a contract to Chulab Co. of Iran for 88.1 billion rials (US$9.6 million) to construct about six kilometers of Alborz Main Conveyance Canal.
