Our 2021 track chairs work with a conference planning committee of more than 60 industry representatives from around the world to choose the most current and relevant content to be delivered in each of our eight conference tracks, in our Knowledge Hub sessions, and in the poster gallery. There truly is something for everyone in the content presented at HYDROVISION International. Our track chairs are:
Civil Works and Dam Safety: C. Richard Donnelly, global principal consultant — dams and waterpower with Hatch. He has 40 years of experience in the design and construction of dams and underground structures and the performance of independent engineer’s assessments for wind and water power facilities.
Energy Storage: Carl Mannheim is senior hydraulic engineer and Northwest hydropower engineering manager with HDR. He is a civil engineer and has about 20 years of experience in hydraulic design and analysis, with a history of working in hydropower and pumped storage.
Equipment and Technology: Lisa Myles, assistant general manager with L&S Electric Inc. She has more than 20 years of management experience in all aspects of project development, including defining project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
Market Trends and Asset Strategies: John Etzel, deputy director, Hydroelectric Design Center with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He has more than 30 years of experience with the Corps, as a structural engineer, project supervisor and project manager.
New Development: Norman A. Bishop, senior executive project engineer with Knight Piesold and Co. He has more than 35 years of experience in all aspects of hydroelectric work and is recognized internationally as a top hydropower expert.
Operations and Maintenance: Tom Brittain and Scott Hopkins. Brittain is senior mechanical engineer with Black & Veatch. He has more than 35 years of experience and worked as a hydro mechanical engineer with Grant County Public Utility District before joining Black & Veatch. Hopkins is NERC compliance engineer with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District. He joined the Corps of Engineers (USACE) in 1994 as an electrical field test engineer and has been a plant engineer and chief of Hydropower Technical Services.
Poster Galleries: Jason Collett, director of north and east regions, power generation, with Mesa Associates. He nearly 20 years of experience with the company, which is a full-service engineering, procurement and construction management firm.
Policies and Regulations: Steve Layman and Kevin Young. Layman is principal consultant with Kleinschmidt and has more than 40 years of experience and has led environmental studies for relicensing of more than 25 dams totaling 1,600 MW of renewable hydropower. Young is president of Young Energy Services and has more than 30 years of experience in the siting, permitting and licensing of energy-related projects throughout the U.S. and Canada and the review of energy projects around the world.
Water and Environment: Michael E. Murphy, senior principal with Stantec. He has more than 30 years of corporate and consulting experience in the energy and environmental-related industries, including hydropower, tidal and wave generation.
