China’s Shandong Province seeks bids for rehabilitation work on a fifth high-risk dam, at Longwantao Reservoir, in Shandong. Bids in two solicitations are due June 21.
The province already is taking bids for rehabilitation of four other dams, at Huacun Reservoir (HydroWorld 5/27/10), Renhe Reservoir in Qingzhou County, Qiangkuang Reservoir in Zhucheng County, and Songshan Reservoir in Linqu County. (HydroWorld 5/21/10)
China has applied to the Asian Development Bank for funding to accelerate strengthening 109 high-risk dams in Shandong, including some with hydropower. (HydroWorld 2/26/09) The US$32 million program would strengthen reservoirs of 15 large and 94 medium-sized high-risk projects. Since 1973, 254 reservoirs have collapsed in Shandong Province, killing 225 people.
Shandong Province’s Administration Office of Risk Mitigation and Strengthening of Longwantao Reservoir and Shandong Hydraulic Tendering Co. Ltd. invite bids by 9:30 a.m. Beijing time June 21 in two solicitations. One solicitation, for Contract SLZB2010-65, is for Spillway Gate Lot 1 and Outlet Metal Structure and Equipment Lot 2. The other solicitation, for Contract SLZB2010-66, is for Spillway Reinforcement Works 1.
