LEXINGTON, Mass., Feb. 19, 2004 — Spurred by growing demand from its existing client base and other market participants for expert strategic consulting services, Excelergy® Corporation has launched a new strategic consulting practice called Excelergy EPIC – Energy Process Infrastructure Consulting.
Excelergy’s managing director of consulting services, David Leibowitz, will manage the new consulting practice for the company and Charles Craven has been appointed as director of strategic consulting.
Excelergy EPIC offers a wide variety of business process expertise across the entire energy value chain – from wholesale trading, scheduling, settlement and market operations to retail pricing, billing, settlement, customer acquisition and customer care.
Focusing on these core processes, Excelergy EPIC consists of a wide variety of planning programs in the areas of strategic business planning, project planning and systems planning.
“In today’s energy markets, the constant breaking and reforming of business processes require considerable investments in corporate IT infrastructure and upgrades,” noted Leibowitz. “But with today’s budgets, companies have to be very smart and strategically focused when planning and making those investments. This is exactly where Excelergy EPIC Consulting services come into the picture – to assist companies in making these crucial decisions.”
Closely mirroring the breadth of Excelergy’s global client base, Excelergy EPIC is now being offered to market participants throughout the energy/utility value chain – including retail, distribution, transmission/transportation and generation/supply companies – as well as system integrators, consultancies and outsourcing companies. Excelergy EPIC is offered as an independent, objective consulting service that does not require the purchase of other Excelergy services or software technology.
In its first engagement, the Excelergy EPIC Consulting team played a lead role in the successful four-week CIS deployment for Netherlands-based ONS Energy and its nearly 1,000 commercial & industrial (C&I) customers in the Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg markets. Consisting of just 5 people, the joint ONS-Excelergy deployment team delivered a proof of concept in just 2 1/2 days utilizing ONS’s existing hardware, network, customer data, price plans, logos and stylesheets.
“Our EPIC Consulting team members are seasoned industry professionals with hands-on experience at leading energy companies around the world,” said Bill Mahoney, Excelergy president and CEO. “Based on their collective expertise, we are providing quick, expert recommendations on how organizations can optimize their mission-critical business processes – while achieving lower total cost of ownership and significant returns on their IT investments. In fact, we strongly believe that the bottom-line benefits companies will derive from Excelergy EPIC will more than pay for the service itself in a surprisingly short timeframe. The addition of Charles Craven, with over 20 years of experience and expertise in the energy industry, further strengthens the EPIC team.”
Craven joins Excelergy from Knowmadic Integration Software, where as Sr. Director of Energy Solutions he was responsible for dramatically growing the product line while working with the largest energy companies around the world to design, build, and deploy systems for regulated and deregulated operations. Prior to his success at Knowmadic, Craven was with Siebel Systems, Texas Utilities (TXU) and has worked with major policy-making US institutions, including FERC, Department of Energy, Gas Independent Standards Board, and the American Gas Association.
