Roybal’s paper entitled, “Transfer Switches Applied in Systems with Power Circuit Breakers,” overviewed industry standards for short-term current ratings of low-voltage transfer switches and power switches. Many applications, such as health care facilities and data centers use transfer switches in their emergency or standby systems. The paper demonstrated how automatic transfer switches with extended withstand ratings improve the reliability within critical applications.
